World Chaos Map is run by Suraj Shaw, an individual based in London, United Kingdom ("we", "us"). Contact: shaw@worldchaosmap.app.

World Chaos Map gives countries a score from 0 to 100 based on events reported in public news, updated about every 4 hours. Scores are produced automatically and can be wrong, incomplete or out of date.

Scores are not advice. They are not travel, safety, security, financial, legal or professional advice, and they are not predictions. Always check official sources, such as government travel advice, before making decisions.

You may use the sites for personal, educational and research purposes. You must not:

• Try to break, overload or get around the security of the sites or their APIs
• Scrape or download data in bulk, or use automated tools in a way that puts load on the service, beyond what the data licence allows
• Copy, rebrand or resell the sites, their design or their code
• Use the sites for anything unlawful, or to harass or mislead others
• Present our scores as your own work or remove the credit

The published scores and rankings are licensed separately under CC BY-NC 4.0, as explained on the License page. News headlines, article text and linked articles belong to their publishers. Country shapes come from Natural Earth (public domain).

You can share the story cards and links the app creates on social media for non-commercial purposes, as long as the World Chaos Map branding and link stay on them. Commercial use needs our permission.

Higher or Lower, Head to head and the daily forecast are free games for fun. They involve no payment, no stakes and no prizes, and they are not gambling or a competition. Scores, streaks and personal bests are stored on your device only. If we ever run a competition with prizes, it will have its own separate terms.

Country views link to news articles and other websites we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy or privacy practices.

The service is free and provided "as is". We may change, pause or stop any part of it at any time, and we do not promise it will always be available, error-free or up to date.

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage that comes from using or relying on the sites or the scores, including decisions made using them. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence or for fraud, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

How we handle data is explained in the Privacy policy and the Cookie policy.

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using the sites after a change, the new terms apply.
